Fred Luber and his two sons, Ben & Jack, founded the textile company, Luber Textiles Reg’d. This company would be a wholesaler of textile piece Goods purchased from North America textile mills and distributed to apparel manufacturers in Canada.

The company was progressing, despite continued changes in the apparel industry. Economic aid by USA to Japan, allowed the building of factories with brand-new Machinery and expertise in textile weaving and dyeing, which would revive Japan's economy. Large textile companies were set up to help these new manufacturers sell to export markets. Ben Luber, through the trading company Nissho, flew to Osaka and placed orders for yarn dyed fabrics for Canadian manufacturers; The quality was exceptional.

Eastern Europe received most “favored nation” status, which allowed lowest custom duty rates same as other countries. Lubertex started to buy out of Poland and Czechoslovakia.

There was an opportunity to to diversify our fabric line and sell commodity-based goods from the Soviet Union (Russia), cotton unbleached, bleached and printed. The end-user would be manufacturers of denim jeans (pocketing), men's trousers (pocketing), flour bags, mattress covers, pillow shells, and printed cotton.

At this time Pakistan became very competitive in low-end fabrics to fit into the new direction of commodity goods.

All these recent changes led to our move into a substantially larger Warehouse, where we are still located today.

Ben Luber flew to Karachi, Pakistan and to Beijing, China, in order to make new contacts. These contacts would become the basis for most of our Imports today.

Lubertex recorded sales purchase from the Soviet Union at 22,000,000 yards of the above commodities.

Ben Luber passed away and third Generation, William Luber, would carry on the family business with his wife Lynda. Bill was invited to go to the Canton Fair in China, and was then approached to meet directly with government export companies to Beijing and Shanghai. He was able to place 99% of his Eastern European articles in China, which produced high quality goods. Lubertex was able to expand into poly/cotton and other commodity items. This relationship with China has carried on to this day.

4th generation, Heidi Luber, joined the business. Imports of ready-made home furnishings and many other items became more significant in the future of the business. Manufacturing in Canada and in the USA was replaced with manufacturing overseas. Retail and hotel ready-made soft goods became strong who protects products. Our history and fabric experience have allowed us to be successful in this industry.

Lubertex has fully committed itself to the hospitality industry. We are currently supplying Boutique Hotels and Hotel chains with bedding supplies throughout North America.
